We begin this tour in the rugged terraced vineyards of Priorat in north-eastern Spain, a region that was rediscovered in recent years and has become the source of some of the country's most impressive and sought-after wines. From here we head across the top of northern Spain to Rioja and on to the Ribiera del Duero and Toro regions, sampling the best wines and fabulous food, staying in winery accommodation and historic old hotels.
Continuing our travels west we arrive in the magnificent Douro Valley of Portugal where our local contacts have arranged special visits with both large and boutique producers of Port and wine. This is arguably the most beautiful wine region in the world, with tier upon tier of terraced vineyards climbing up from the river - and we experience the views from both the water and the land, to be sure you don't miss anything! After we have tasted more Port in the historic town of Vila Nova de Gaia you can depart from Porto or choose the optional extension down through Barraida to end the tour in Lisbon.
