In Spain the three most requested regions are the Rioja and Ribera del Duero in the North, and the Priorat region to the South-West of Barcelona. We visit these regions separately or as one grand tour across the breadth of Northern Spain - and sometimes combine this with Portugal, Spain's neighbor to the west. Portugal is best known for its fortified Port and Madeira wines, but has recently begun to make a mark with its table wines from regions such as Bairrada and Alentejo . Portugal's steep terraced vines along the Douro Valley and the port caves in Oporto make for quite spectacular scenery.

South America
As the first wine tour operator in Chile, Avalon Wine Tours has been following the growth of this country from an industrial wine producer to a region that produces some of the best wine in the world. No longer deemed unsophisticated, Chile is leading New World wines and cuisine in to the future!
Avalon Wine Tours first started visiting Argentina back in 1996, before most wine enthusiasts were aware of what was happening there. We've seen Mendoza's wineries transform from the old rustic style to today's state-of-the-art facilities that produce world class wines, and we're watching Salta develop its amazing potential in the highest vineyards in the world.
Europe
Avalon Wine Tours first tour in Europe was in Bordeaux in 1993. We have hosted celebrities and other winemakers, visiting the Grand Cru of Burgundy, a region not only known for it's famous wine known but also for its gastronomy.We tour the beautiful Loire Valley known for its fantastic white wines and its palatial chateaux. Historic cities such as Reims located in the region of Champagne and Chablis and the Rhone are also common destinations for our clients.
In Italy we visit Piemonte, Tuscany and indulge in their big reds and excellent cuisine. We organize cooking schools and art tours in this amazing country filled with historic villages, superb restaurants and picturesque scenery.
